Scribsy is a living story bible for novelists. It was built by Steven Pattison, a lifelong reader who has carried whole worlds in his head for decades and could never get them onto the page.

The kid with the book under the desk

Steven was the kid who got sent to the principal's office for reading in class. In sixth grade he topped his state's Accelerated Reader leaderboard and won every spelling bee his class and school held. Most of his free time went to books and roleplaying games.

The worlds that never left

By middle school he was slipping away into what he calls his Narnia closets: fantasy and science fiction worlds he wanted to be part of. Those worlds never went away. They grew. Decades of worldbuilding still live only in his head, and every attempt to get them onto the page has failed. He had the imagination. He never had the tool.

The one they kept handing more to

Steven's career has run on one pattern. He joins in one role, people see what he can do, and they hand him more.

At Codex Worlds, an independent game studio, he ran the Kickstarter launch for Infinium Strike and became the studio's President within months. He worked on two released games with worlds of their own: Infinium Strike, a space strategy game with a full story campaign, and Battlecursed, a dark fantasy dungeon crawler.

At Dock, a credentials startup, he was hired to run operations and ended up running engineering after the company lost its CTO and Head of Product. He represented Dock on a W3C task force and in working groups on verifiable credentials: standards for people owning their own records and sharing only what they choose.

He helped untangle the sale of Remote.com to the founders who rebuilt it as Remote, and he ran product and engineering planning for the early pilots that led to Verifiable's pivot and its place in Y Combinator. Then he co-founded a privacy and cryptography R&D consultancy.

Along the way he studied physics, business, geology, philosophy and Russian on three continents, and became the person companies trusted to explain the code to the people betting on it.

So he built it

Scribsy is the tool he needed and couldn't find. It reads your manuscript as you write and keeps a living story bible of your characters, places and events, so your world stays straight while you get it onto the page. Scribsy never generates prose, and you decide how much help you want from it.

It's built around a plain fact about memory: working memory holds a handful of things at once, and a novel holds thousands.

In Scribsy, that's a rule. Scribsy reads, and you write.
